Thoughts on Argentina so far...

The United States dominates the globe. This is an undeniable truth. We flew to Argentina in an airplane, drove to a condo we rented on Airbnb in a car and paid for it using a credit card. All of which are American inventions. Americans have a lot to be proud of. In addition to these innovations, we export culture, not just entertainment but also food and drink. Our influence is everywhere.
One reason people travel is to experience different cultures and was of life, and unfortunately as an American our dominance of the world sometimes gets in the way of this. When you visit another country and everyone speaks English, or everywhere you go you see images you recognize and restaurant chains from back home, it really defeats the purpose of going through the trouble.
Argentina is definitely affected by American culture. But being so far away, on the opposite side of the planet, it seems that this impact is about as minimal as it can be. It is much less American than Europe or Australia. Even Cuba, despite the trade embargo, is tainted by American culture. Yet here on the bottom of the world an American can find a bit of relief from life back home.

And post about it on the internet, an American cultural invention.
